The staff at this place treat you like royalty. It’s such a private and intimate setting surrounded by nature. One of the best experiences!

We checked in at about 8pm, then went to dinner heading back to the hotel at 10pm. The room was beyond disgusting. Maintenance upkeep on the room is something that is not kept up. There was no hot water in our Jacuzzi suite and we were told that the boiler was down an to give them "time" to get it back up and running. We checked out at 1am because there was still no hot water. When checking out there was no General Manager to talk to so I could get a check out receipt, I was told they could not give me a receipt stating the time i checked out because their audit was not completed yet. I was handed a handwritten paper of who to call after 8am to talk to about a refund. When i called i was told they can give me a 30% discount. When I asked why not a full refund i was told after 30 minutes of being in the room they can no longer give me a full refund. I explained that the front desk clerks told me to give it "time" but they did not care and refused the refund. To be told to give it "time" and then to be refused a refund because I did what the front desk told me to is beyond ridiculous and feels more like a scam so they can get away with not refunding money because of their own lack of upkeep, Maintenance and proper staffing of their property. For the price they charge I would not recommend this hotel.

Everything seemed right. The location close to beaches, preserves and not far from Sarasota.

I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to budget hotel stays, my expectations tend to be modest — you hope for a clean room, a comfy bed, and a smooth check-in. What I absolutely did not expect was to walk away genuinely impressed, but that’s exactly what happened at Travelodge Wincanton, and it’s almost entirely down to one person: Sarah at reception. From the moment I arrived, Sarah’s warmth was immediately noticeable. She greeted me with a genuine smile — not the kind of forced, going-through-the-motions welcome you sometimes get, but a real, friendly acknowledgement that made me feel like a valued guest from the very first second. Check-in was smooth and efficient, but what truly set the experience apart was what came next. I was having some trouble getting connected to the WiFi — something that might sound trivial, but when you’re travelling and need to stay connected for work or to let family know you’ve arrived safely, it genuinely matters. Rather than pointing me toward a FAQ card or brushing it off, Sarah took the time to personally walk me through the entire setup process, step by step, with real patience and without a hint of frustration. She didn’t rush me, didn’t make me feel like I was being an inconvenience — she simply sorted it, with a smile. That kind of attentiveness is rarer than it should be in hospitality, and it speaks volumes about Sarah’s character and professionalism. She clearly takes pride in her role and in making sure every guest leaves happier than when they arrived. She is, without question, a credit to the Travelodge brand and an asset to the Wincanton team. The property itself did its job well — clean, comfortable, and everything you need for a no-fuss stay. But what will bring me back is knowing that the people behind the desk genuinely care. Travelodge Wincanton — please recognise the exceptional member of staff you have in Sarah. Fab value, great rooms, excellent staff and brakefast was amazing.

They spelt Hostel wrongly on the front. Disgusting carpets, damp smelling room, faulty shower head. Yes, it's cheap but I expected better.

We have stayed in this hotel four times and just love it. The rooms are a little tired and in need of an upgrade but they are clean and practical. The location ( if you like the sea and beaches) is excellent. Right next to an amazing beach. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. The food was very good with a wide variety of choices. We will be back.
