Lovely stay at the Granary. Joyce was a wonderful host - great hiking recommendations, delicious breakfasts and the best homemade sausage rolls. Terrific rooms - comfy beds and a large bath - perfect for a soak after a days walking on the beautiful mountains. We’ll be back!!!!
We discovered this little gem when looking for a stopover somewhere along the A1. It is a small but very special place, only a few rooms but they have been decorated very tastefully and the decor is beautiful and very fresh. The village is very pretty and we had an excellent meal at the Crown just a few metres away from the Barn. The bed at the Barn was lovely and big and very comfortable. There was a lovely selection of biscuits, crisps, teas, coffees etc. The hosts were very attentive and friendly. The breakfast was amazing. The couple have won awards for their breakfasts and you could see why. My husband ordered, as part of his breakfast, the fresh fruit. I didn't because i thought it would be a bit of chopped up apple and a bit of tinned fruit in an overly sweet syrup. However it was a beautifully arranged plate of two different types of melon, arranged in circle with lots of fresh berries and other fruits artfully arranged on the plate. We then had warm, flaky croissants, my husband went for the full English which he rates as excellent and I had scrambled eggs, with smoked salmon on toasted bagels. It was delicious but I couldn't eat it all but was offered a box to take away - it made a lovely lunch when I got home. As you can tell, I would thoroughly recommend the Barn.
Beautiful barn conversion, I have twice stayed in the mezzanine room which is compact, yet very well equipped and still feels spacious. Quality fittings, comfortable bed & a/c for the warmer months. Excellent breakfast, with lots of choice. Very friendly & professional host. Lovely pub, with great food 5mins walk too
Such a lovely B&B, homely, pristine and with probably the best home cooked breakfast we’ve ever experienced - lots of choice and only the very best ingredients used. Joyce is a lovely host and a font of local knowledge - advising us on places to visit, whilst on our long weekend away. We loved our stay in Talgarth and look forward to our next visit to The Granary.
Excellent appartment
Excellent, spacious appartment. Could not have been better equipped.
The bedroom is up a spiral staircase so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Wonderful, attentive hostess who was a mine of information about the area. The rooms were spacious, fully equipped and very clean. Breakfast was everything you could ask for. Would certainly recommend the Granary to anyone visiting the area.
We checked in after a long car journey and were pleasantly surprised by Le Barn - it was all we'd hoped for with plenty of outdoor space for our dog to stretch her legs and a relaxed feel that meant she could accompany us for drinks on the terrace and a very nice dinner in the bistro. Unfortunately it's the bedrooms that let this place down, the door to the room is external and goes straight into the bedroom. It's functional and utilitarian in design, not massive (but then we didn't book the most expensive room). We travelled in Spring so it wasn't super hot but we could have done with some fresh air in the night and there is no air con, ceiling fan or ability to open a window (there are none). Opening the door to the outside isn't an option when you're travelling with a dog or children (as many of the other guests were). Whilst I understand the environmental reasons for not having air conditioning, not being able to open a window is surely a massive design flaw. We had intended to use this place regularly as a pit stop on our journeys between the south of France and the UK but the thought of a room here in the height of summer with no air con or windows fills us with horror. What a shame, could have been perfect...
I'm biased as I really love the Barn and it's idea to offer an escape from Paris into "nature"; it's the perfect place to decompress from the speed, intensity, noise of the city, if you like to slow down a bit. Stay for a weekend or a night, come by car or train, drop your suitcase in one of the beautiful designed rooms and get started with a walk around the premises: a big garden, horses and a small forest welcome you. enjoy the coffee, the meals and take photos, as they are all instagramable... The kitchen tries to cater to the taste of city people in serving home grown or locally sourced vegetables, fruits, bread ... with adapting country side recipes, which turns out to be usually delicious and inspiring to your tastebuds; however don't forget to walk or exercise as the plates are rather rich. The team is super welcoming and accommodating, just ask and they'll take care of you. WIFI and network are quite good, so you have to discipline yourself to detox... and sometimes there is a nice party in the evening.
