Great stay in a great pub/inn in a lovely village. Originally we were looking for somewhere near York and picked this place at random – so got lucky. Decent-sized, comfortable room, the beer 'proper' Yorkshire, and the food was excellent throughout – we could have eaten almost amything on the quite extensive menu. (Watch out for some huge portions, though!) But above all, the staff were great, Georgie and the team, Joe, Katie, Simon, a special shout-out for Debbie (she knows why), and for all the others I've missed out. The hotel sits right on the roundabout, directly over the outside and our room at the front of the hotel was quite noisy. It didn't bother us, but consider asking for a back room if it's an issue. On the other hand, we woke up each morning to a cuckoo calling, which is pretty special.
