We stayed at the Bearslake Inn for a mid January weekend break. Unlike many other reviews, I do feel our room was warm and, although basic, it had everything we needed for the weekend. Walls are thin but it’s a listed building with so much history and I think it’s part of its charm and character. It was also a huge bonus that it was dog friendly, it was spacious and in a great location. We ate at the Inn on our first night. Food is good but some of the options are ridiculously expensive. £28 for the venison and it was a tiny portion - definitely not suitable if you have a large appetite. My partner was disappointed and we both agreed it’s not worth the expense. Having said that, the burger and fries are both a good size and the desserts are huge. It is strange that there is such a huge variation between portion sizes. Chefs come out and chat to you which makes it a unique dining experience. As we had our dog, we ate in the bar which is incredibly dog friendly. Lots of dogs present in the bar. The bartender/waitress was lovely and kept giving our dog treats, it’s clear she loves dogs and she was great! We’d return to stay in the Inn but think twice about eating in the restaurant because of the £££ of the food - other local pubs have a similar atmosphere and great food but aren’t as expensive. I wish I’d taken some pictures of our meals to show what I mean!
