Très décevant pour un soi-disant 4 étoiles
L’h?tel profite clairement de sa bonne localisation à Saint-Rapha?l, mais c’est bien le seul point positif.
Le cadre est très vieillot, rien à voir avec les photos qui donnent une impression de modernité. En réalité, tout semble dater d’une autre époque : mobilier ancien, décoration dépassée, salle de bain d’un autre temps (poubelle en plastique type h?pital, rideau de douche d’un autre age…).
La chambre est minuscule, sans le confort qu’on attend d’un 4 étoiles — plut?t le niveau d’un 3 étoiles, voire moins.
Seule la pression de la douche est correcte, mais c’est bien la seule chose qui rappelle une douche “normale”.
Et surtout, attention à la cathédrale juste à c?té : les cloches sonnent très t?t le matin, puis à chaque heure pendant plusieurs minutes. Impossible de dormir paisiblement, on a vraiment l’impression d’être collé au clocher.
The hotel had everything we needed for a relaxing week. Staff were friendly and professional. It’s a very elegant place with beautiful decor throughout. Beds are very comfortable. We’d absolutely recommend it.

Aperitivi ottimi serviti dal Sig.re Massimo presso il bar dell’hotel Excelsior; persona molto simpatica, disponibile ed affabile. Tornerò molto presto
There are, of course, many hotels in Kathmandu, and especially in and around Thamel, from budget to luxury. Thamel is undoubtedly the best place for tourists to stay, with its wide range of shops, restaurants, bars, and more. Which type of hotel suits me best? While every hotel offers of course overnight accommodation, for me it's mainly about what else they offer. Do they have a restaurant? A nice place to sit and enjoy a drink and food. I also find it important that a hotel provides maximum assistance with information you might need to optimize your stay in Kathmandu. Whether it's renting a bicycle or motorbike, advice on taxi fares, arranging bus or plane tickets, where to buy something specific, or doctor appointments. The added value of this service isn't measured by the number of stars a hotel has or its size. Hotel Excelsior offers all of this with its homey atmosphere and excellent service. The hotel owner is almost always present in his office in the lobby during the day, which keeps communication lines pleasantly short. For many years, I've been coming to Hotel Excelsior in the heart of Thamel with its 3-4 stars and comfortable en-suite rooms. Year after year, I enjoy this hotel and the service it offers. From the moment I checked in and throughout my stay, I received excellent service from every member of the staff.
I hardly recommend the Excelsior, not only because of the great service, but because of its central location as well. It is close to everything, within walkable distance to all major destinations in Thessaloniki.
