  • Guest:The six senses lodge in bumthang may be the most beautiful and relaxing forest hotel in the world with its beauty perfectly complimented by excellent and endlessly thoughtful and imaginative service The setting in a peaceful pine forest overlooking the river is the ideal place for a gorgeous wooden construction with soaring ceilings and floor to ceiling glass windows and large doors which open the sound of running water in the distance. From the moment you arrive you feel at home The staff are fabulous, attentive and creative, in the way that the ideal household staff would be Every member of the team is remarkable but the lodge manager Sankha Birdar Darjee was particularly welcoming from the first moment and arranged truly unique moments and went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of and happy at all times. In our case after we commented on the beautiful spot, the team quickly offered to arrange for u to have dinner down by the river even though they had only done it once before and with no notice put together a bbq and bonfire under the stars at a remote spot 15 minutes from the hotel Our family with two children 12 and 15 year old children had a truly magical evening and overall unique stay. Highly recommend using it as a base to do a variety of hikes. The food is great, much of the produce coming from the hotels garden, the cocktail unusual and excellent, and the day filled with thoughtful touches We didn’t stay at any other six senses property in Bhutan so the others may also be wonderful but Bumthang shouldn’t be missed.
  • Guest:Spent 7 days with Six Senses Bhutan. Visited Thimpu, Panaka and Paro. It was stunning really from start to finish. The staff were all trying very hard to be as helpful as possible. Panaka lodge stood out as the best hospitality we have ever received, anywhere, including compared to my own home. Our driver Yashi and hard working guide Kinley were a pleasure to have as company. Both were very professional from start to finish and could not have done more to be of help at every opportunity. Bhutan is an amazing place really...still processing it all and am definitely going to return one day. Although I haven't visited with any other providers, Six Senses did a very good job of showing us Bhutan! Only negatives; would have been nice to have had better seats on our Drukair flight and I was little bit disappointed this hadn't been thought of (as Six Senses booked our flights into the country) and the view was very poor from our villa at the Paro lodge. Being someone who admires an expansive vista (who doesn't though right...) and having requested this at booking it was a shame not to be able to stare down on the valley during our stay there. I'd have done so much staring given half a chance and possibly kept notes on what I saw to update my partner with at every opportunity, especially over dinner. Oh the missed intrigue. It could have been like a game of cluedo, or Where's Wally, or to a far lesser degree, Snakes and Ladders.
  • Guest:We just returned from our trip to Bhutan and I keep trying to find the words to explain and express how incredible, beautiful, and awe-inspiring it was for our family. The first thing you should know is that this is absolutely the place you need to take your kids. Please feel free to DM me and ask any questions - I had a lot of anxiety about whether they were too young, if it would be full of hikes and temples and not much else, and how they would find it overall - so I’m here to help if you’re considering it and am happy to answer any questions. I would say it’s probably best for kids over 5, though. They’ll need to be able to walk without a stroller and not be napping, but otherwise it’s definitely a place my kids found entirely beautiful, fun, and exciting. DO IT. But: as with everything with kids, you need to do it right and I’m convinced that the best possible option for families in Bhutan is Six Senses. I’ve been looking into this trip for years and years plus love researching travel for fun, so I know all the options, have looked at all the rooms and offers at all the different properties and I promise you will not do better than Six Senses. There are so many things to know about Bhutan, but here are a few: it’s insanely clean and free of trash and even billboards (they’re not allowed), it was a beautiful break from all that stuff you see normally. Everyone, I mean everyone, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We learned the word for hello and that worked to get waves and smiles everywhere. Our kids especially were constantly being welcomed, since kids aren’t as common it was novel for people to see them - but not in an overt and uncomfortable way, just super friendly. The nature is astounding. The country has such a focus on sustainability topped with the Six Senses approach, so we found ourselves constantly astounded. As for Six Senses they think of everything and then more. There were countless times our guide would pull something out of the van that was the best idea ever, for example: walking sticks. It’s something we wouldn’t have packed but came in handy so many times on hikes and were just really nice to have. Everything was at our pace and what we were comfortable with doing, including and especially at the beginning when we were still adjusting to the time zone. Also, super useful to know that laundry is included. This sounds like a minor detail but let me tell you it is a wonder. To be traveling with a suitcase full of clean clothes is miraculous and part way through the trip I pointed out that we would have either had all dirty clothes at that point or would have had to deal with spending our precious vacation time on laundry. It’s another thing that just makes everything so wonderful. The food: I could write paragraphs about how much we loved everything. What’s great about Six Senses is there is SO much variety on the menu, including local specialties, and then you can also always order anything you can think of o
  • Guest:We stayed at 4 of the Six Senses hotels in Bhutan. Total 10 days of guided tours. The hotels were amazing. Spoiled us in every way possible. Even tough we booked a room for 2, since we had a problem sharing the room, they upgrade us for free to a 2 bedrooms villas. They did our laundry for free on every day that we asked. The private tour guide and the driver were amazing. They accommodated our requests and needs. One thing needs improvement from our point of view. Lights were too little in the bedrooms. We wished we were able to set the lights to a higher level when we needed it.
