Guest：Room was comfortable although very easy to hear room above and our friends also said they could hear everything from room net door to them Service was great food - not as good as it used to be i had chicken souvlaki which was quite bitter and def no souvlaki taste the monkfish packets were also underwhelming. Best in show was the lamb to share
Guest：After a terrible train journey to Reading and a slightly windy taxi ride (25 mins from Reading ￡35), it was a joy to arrive at The Royal Oak. The welcome was friendly (and I had had to make some last minute adjustments to the booking via Richard) and after checking in and taking my case upstairs to a very comfortable room, it was back down for a delicious veggie supper with a pint from the local brewery. This is the English Pub at its best. After a lovely warm bath in the very spacious bathroom and a good night's sleep, it was the full English Breakfast with locally sourced produce (all available in the local village store shop across the road). I stayed to work in the pub and then met up with friends for lunch. All delicious and cooked before your very eyes. The service was relaxed and quick and contributed to the quality of the stay.
Guest：We first visited this lovely village pub/restaurant over 10 years ago and since then it's had a major refurb - amazing walled garden (great for the kids to play in), light-filled atrium dining room and really lovely private dining room, which is were we were for a family celebration. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - weaving through small children and serving delicious food and drinks. We decided to stay in a garden room - so pleased we did! Lovely, large room with sparkling bathroom and really good shower. Crisp, white bedlinen and a comfortable bed made for a great night's sleep. Nothing nicer than pottering out of the bedroom in the morning, with a cup of coffee, to sit in the charming, private walled garden. Thank you so much for creating such a memorable visit - we will be back!
