  • Guest:Lovely comfortable restaurant. Front of house staff were all most welcoming and professional. They have an excellent chef producing high quality food with fresh ingredients. The price was not ridiculously expensive for such a good experience
  • Guest:Had a 2 night stay and stayed in room 7 which has been the subject of some comments in past reviews. Room itself was good although didn't have a window, and sink was impossible to wash in without cracking your head! Also, room supplies were not fully replenished overnight which may have been a problem for some people. Main problem was that ceiling was very thin and we could hear everything in room above and this kept us awake till 2am one night despite banging on the ceiling to ask to be quiet! Breakfast was very good. Evening menu was very pricey for what it was but we had to eat there as everywhere else was booked up. The bar was also a joke as they only had one beer on and they said it was a bit foamy (whatever that meant) as the barrel had just been started. Hence, we asked for a half but the beer was cloudy and so we didn't drink it and shared a bottle instead. However when we paid up after the meal, they insisted that we pay for the beer which we didn't drink as they were adamant that there was nothing wrong with it and that they had pulled it and so we had to pay! Although this was totally unacceptable in our view, we reluctantly paid rather than cause a scene. I have never experienced such behaviour before in any pub I have ever visited and, whilst they got their £3.50 for the two halves, we obviously did not return for food or drink the second night and will not be returning to the place to stay again either. I would suggest that they review their attitude to such matters in future if their business is to still be around in 1-2 years time.
  • Guest:We were booked to stay for two nights on the bank holiday, which ended up as one after a disaster of a stay on the first night. We stayed in room 7 on the courtyard, which was pretty filthy. Dust and cobwebs all over the place, hairs round the toilet bowl and marks all over the walls. The room is right next to the kitchen too so means you get to hear everything from the chefs next door - not a major issue as we were out most of the time but it wasn't great. On arrival we booked in for a meal that night for 8:30. The restaurant was full when we turned up for our meal, so sat outside for half an hour before eventually decided to just get a burger in the bar... Which turned up at 9:30. On the positive all the staff were very polite and friendly. And, when the food did arrive it was lovely. Breakfast was also very nice the next morning. The lady we complained to explained that it'd been a bit of a disaster of a weekend and that the owners had gone away for the bank holiday... Who in their right mind leaves their business on one of the busiest weekends of the year?!?! I only hope they enjoyed their bank holiday more than we did!! In summary: Staff = lovely Service = slow Room = needs a refurb (and a clean) Location = great Investment in some more staff & refurbishments and this would be a fantastic B&B.
  • Guest:Nice hotel / pub / restaurant in a small village location just outside Broadway, Cotswolds. Rooms pretty good, restaurant trying to be a bit more than it actually is and the pub bar tiny and really part of the restaurant. All very acceptable but the owner is a bit "precious" about his establishment if you know what I mean.
