Madsen Retreat is officially accredited by the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania as a quality tourism business. It is AAA 4 star rated. We are a small modern boutique mediterranean style guest house perched on a hillside offering vista views of the Bass Strait and the Penguin coastline. Quiet, peaceful and just a 3 minute walk to the shops and beaches. Free Secure on site parking. Pet friendly. Manicured lawns, rear deck, gazebo & bbq facilities. A warm cosy wood fire is set every night during the cold winter months. From January 2021 we will be adult only (age 14 and above) although parents with infants will be welcome. Our target market are adult travellers, business travellers and pet friendly.

  • Guest：Yes, the room was in good condition, however, the website was not accurate in its representation. It was just a bedroom when we were expecting the "penthouse suite". The amenities were fine, however, we were expecting to be prepare our dinner, but were told we could not use the stove because of food odour that may occur. There were many, many rules about what we could not do, and only a few that we could. The representative was pleasant enough, but it was a disappointing experience.

  • Guest：One night only. Very good. Everything as expected. Price reasonable. Bed comfortable. Facilities clean and tidy. Nice view over town out to Bass Strait. Walking distance to cafes and small town centre. A few interesting little shops in main street. Will stay again.
  • Guest：Great communication. Nice touches leaving extra goodies. Bonus that you could watch Netflix too. Bed not comfortable though. Like most motels body imprints both sides and need to sleep on middle of bed. Motels in general need to consider better mattresses.
