  • Guest:Ein ruhiges Hotel.
  • Guest:Above all, friendly and helpful staff. The staff is what made us feel genuinely welcome. Furthermore, the staff is what made us look past some obvious shortcomings of the hotel. There were plenty new faces, maybe a sign for what’s happening behind the scenes. Firstly, the hotel’s 4-Star rating feels made up, the quality of the hotel infrastructure is clearly lacking for such a rating, even for local standards. Take one step outside the self-proclaimed Ecolodge, and you will find piles of trash next to the fuming diesel generators that power the hotel complex around the clock. For some reason, the four hotel shops have been marooned to the access road beyond the hotel lobby. I suspect that’s bad for their business because they’re out of sight and no one ever goes there unintentionally. In their former place, new rooms have been added, so maybe that’s why. The hotel’s rooms appear dated, with many signs of attempted repairs, although nothing seems the get actually renewed. Any sort of eventual reinvestment remains invisible. Our room had a lingering smell, which was complimented be a strange odor emanating from a noisy AC. The beds (separated because why?), sporting a creaking frame made from planks of untreated wood, had worn mattresses the shape of soup bowls. The shower was clean but clearly dated. The towels were stained but plentiful. Despite the staffs’ clear efforts, the buffet was quite repetitive, and the quality of ingredients has gone down compared to previous visits. I feel like this is no fault of the staff, but rather the hotel management. The fish was quite likely frozen, which regardless of preparation will yield a dry and bland end product. The chicken was mostly okay, although it remains questionable whether it was fresh or frozen meat. Overall, I want to emphasize that the food was clean, during our stay we experienced no problems in connection with digestion. Lastly, to say it frankly, the hotel manager’s behavior is unprofessional. He does not interact with the guests, I actually doubt that he even speaks any of German, English or French. Constantly and rudely policing the staff, nitpicking placement of tableware or arrangement of buffet items. His ringing phone was quite the nuisance too. His time would be better spent paying attention to the failing hotel infrastructure instead. It seems like the only thing that’s getting renewed is his boat that’s dry-docked next to the hotel lobby. We will likely come again, despite the aforementioned shortcomings. It’s a small resort, unplagued by animation or constant exposure to inane music. The staff is friendly and makes great efforts to make everyone feel welcome. And even though the French tourists are seemingly actively trying to destroy the reef by kicking and touching every coral in sight, the underwater world of the house reef Zerib Kebir is a marvel. A change in management could really turn this place around, otherwise I'm not too optimistic about their continuing ex

  • Guest:We had a great stay at Rohanou during the quiet time between Christmas and New Years. We didn’t want to stay at a big fancy resort - we wanted a pleasant place to stay with incredible reef that would be accessible even in this time of year. The reef was amazing for snorkeling, even on a crazy windy day we were able to snorkel off the jetty because we were protected in the bay. It’s healthy and gorgeous. The dive shop is super helpful - we brought our own snorkels and rented fins. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming. The food was good, especially the fresh Egyptian food for breakfast. The room was very comfortable and we slept soundly. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s a beautiful setting with warm hospitality.
