  • Guest：We booked a 2 night stay at the hotel Casa Palmela, Setubal from Sunday 1/03/2026 until Tuesday 3/03/2026 with dinner booked both nights for what we thought would be a memorable stay. Sunday night we were shown to table at 19.20. There were no other guests sitting at that time. My wife ordered salmon tartare and duck. Three other couples and a lone diner came in the course of our dinner, one couple ordered starter and mains the other guests opted for mains only. We were last to leave the restauraunt at 21.30 Shortly after midnight my wife took violently ill and spent the next 4 hours vomiting/ throwing up her dinner in the toilet. MY WIFE HAD FOOD POISONING FROM THE SALMON TARTARE. Monday morning I went to reception and told them what had happened. They sounded concerned. On Tuesday morning I asked for my bill and I was shocked to see that I was being charged for my wife’s meal. The hotel manager was called and he insisted that many other guests had eaten the salmon on Sunday with no effects. I asked him how many other guests had used the restauraunt and had eaten the salmon. He did not know. He then went on to tell me about food and the digestive system at which point I had to tell him to go away. I asked for the complaints book and logged my complaint and the actions of the hotel. After a big to do and fighting my case the hotel reluctantly discounted my bill. The total denial and actions of the manager were not what we expected from a hotel of that calibre.
  • Guest：Perfect location and exceptional setting. Nevertheless, the staff was poorly trained, terribly disorganized, and showed no initiative to help guests

The dining terrace was located at the rear of the property overlooking Arrabida mountains and open countryside ,it provided a superb location in what appeared to be a very comfortable and elegant hotel. The food however was a great disappointment, grossly expensive, poorly prepared and too much theatre. The mixture of flavours was strange and totally unnecessary . What is wrong with serving well prepared quality ingredients without the need to hide behind pompous flavour screens. They could not even deliver a simple rare fillet steak.
  • Guest：Our recent stay at Hotel Casa Palmela exceeded all expectations, from the warm and professional staff at check-in to the smooth late check-out included in our dine and breakfast package. The late check-out at 2 PM allowed us to enjoy a relaxing morning by the swimming pool, which was the perfect way to end our stay. The day before, we went on a lovely horseback ride through the woods, surrounded by magnificent views. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway. We were especially happy to get engaged there as it is a truly special location with breathtaking scenery.
