Guest：Stayed with the unwind and dine package. Location: - 5 min drive to Dunsborough town center. - Roughly 30-40 minute drive to the Margaret River town center, with wineries on the way - 2-3 hour drive from Perth City Atmosphere: 5 stars The reception and lounge is very homey. The indoor and outdoor breakfast lounge was very beautifully appointed. The surrounding areas (pathways to the suites) are very clean, quiet, and calming. Room: (stayed in a deluxe balcony) - Perfect for couples. The bathroom is opened to the bedroom, with the toilet in an enclosed room. The outdoor shower is perfect for the warm summer. - The bed was very comfortable, with a different kinds of pillows already in the room (soft and harder pillows were available in the room so we were able to get comfortable without specifically asking for pillows). - The outdoor balcony opens to a wonderful view. Felt very private. - The TV in the room is quite small, but we didnt find the need to use it at all. There's a DVD player in the room and a selection of DVDs you could borrow at the lounge. Breakfast - There s a small breakfast buffet with fruits, breads, and grains. The selection was excellent and were all very fresh. - They also served hot meals to order. Tried the chilli eggs and french toast - both were very very good. Service - 5 stars - from check-in to check-out, the staff was very accommodating to all our requests. - We had traveled from abroad and forgot our travel adaptors, the they were kind enough to lend us what they had in the reception. Overall: Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We were so relaxed during the entire stay, It felt like we were returning home even though it was our first time there. Cannot wait to go back.
Guest：Driving from Perth to Margaret River after a long flight we just needed a place to crash. Arrived late at night so we had no idea what we were getting into. We were very pleased upon entering the room which was vary tastefully appointed. (in fact, the wife loved the bedding so much she bought sets of sheets to bring home! Uh, that is new sheets and not s used set.) But as nice as the room was, we were stunned to see the setting when we went to breakfast. The setting of the inn is stupendous. In fact, we were so impressed by the setting that we stayed an extra day in order to explore the expansive grounds. We found Empire Retreat to be a gem of an inn which we highly recommend. The rooms have a simple, understated elegance, the kitchen is superb, and the setting is dramatic. We stumbled across this place in the dead of night which proves serendipity can be a wonderful thing. Empire Retreat rates a double thumbs up.
