  • Guest:We stayed at white Angel for a week in early February. The hotel as a whole there are positives and negatives. The hotel is very clean, modern and well maintained. It is in a great place to provide amazing views of the mountains. The shuttle bus that operates between the hotel and the town centre is convenient and the drivers are all friendly. The spa is lovely and is very relaxing. The restaurants food is very well cooked (but limited and does not cater to all tastes). The bar is also a lovely area to sit and have a drink and admire the views and it is quite reasonably priced and the staff are attentive. The main negative of the hotel has to be the temperature. The rooms are so ridiculously hot it could only be described as sleeping in a lit furnace. We spent the back end of the week sleeping with the door out onto the patio open all night to get the room at a respectable temperature. The thermostat on the wall does nothing other than tell the room temp so you can’t even control the room temp. The second negative is the sound proofing of the rooms to the corridor… don’t expect to enjoy a lie in. In a morning you can hear every crash bang and voice in the corridor outside the room as if the noise was coming from the end of the bed, we were woken up every morning by some kind of disturbance from the corridor. The restaurant had a limited menu that is very “fine dining” the starter buffet was confusing, nothing had a sign telling you what it was so it was a bit of trial and error what you tried. The service wasn’t particularly smooth and staff often seemed flustered and disorganised which meant we were often ignored for 5-10 minutes when trying to catch someone’s attention. Overall the hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our stay however there were small things that tarnished what could be a very good hotel which was a shame.
  • Guest:We stayed at this hotel for February half term. Unfortunately it does not live up to what is represented on its website. This is not a Spa Hotel. It is a hotel which shares a building with a Spa for which there is an additional €23 charge. Children under 12 are not permitted after 5 pm. Having seen the reviews we actually contacted the hotel ahead of our visit and were reassured the access to the pool was not at an additional charge only to arrive and find it was. Other rooms may be different but the room we were in was anything but sound proof (in contrast to the website description). When people talked next door it sounded like they were in the same room. And as there are no carpets when people walk over head there is little insulation. No balcony and no bath although the shower was good. The bar/lounge area does not have the capacity to seat enough people at times and there were a couple of evenings we had to wait. And the room only had one chair. Breakfast okay. We bought fruit ourselves due to limited selection. A specialised egg menu is mentioned but if you want something other than scrambled or hard boiled there is a €7 charge. Location good but it is on what can be a tricky red run. The buses into the town are really good and necessary as the restaurant is not a place to feed a family every evening. We did eat there once and it was good but having eaten on the slopes a more basic menu would have been welcome. Ski hire on site good as is the ski storage area. Some nice appetisers are served in the bar area around 630-730 but afternoon tea would have been more welcome. There is a terrace but it's not in use so a drink in the sun after a day on the slopes is a no. Unfortunately my husband booked without looking at the reviews as nothing has really changed to improve on previous comments (although we got past the temperature problem by opening the windows and manually turning off the radiators) . They do a follow up questionnaire following check in, on which I highlighted several concerns, but no acknowledgement or follow up. All in all missed the mark for us. For the money I'd prefer a cosier feeling place, with the referred to spa included. Accurate and clear information on the website would have meant the disappointment would have been avoided. Although we'd probably not have booked.
  • Guest:Pros: The mountain and skiable area are amazing. The option to ski down in Zermatt is a big plus. The hotel's location is it's biggest advantage, offering ski-in/ski-out access directly from the ski lockers, which are located in the basement at the garage level. However, there's a downside: the entrance from the mountain (via the red run 3 bis) isn't clearly marked. There's only a small hole in the right-side fence, which can easily be missed while skiing down. Cons: 1. Breakfast: The breakfast is a buffet with no a la carte options or omelette station. The selection is boring, the same every day, consisting of low quality cheese, ham, boiled eggs, and pastries. They offer free tap water in bottles during breakfast, but charge three euros per bottle for the same bottled tap water with dinner. 2. Dinner: We chose the demipension option, with breakfast and dinner. The dinner options are limited to three choices: an appetizer buffet and two courses, each with three options. The food is bland and not worth the price (very expensive if one pay for it and not included in the package). We skipped dinner at the hotel for two nights and ate in the village, where there are better and cheaper options. The village even has live music. I recommend Griggio's Bar and Copa Pan for a more enjoyable dining experience. 3. Spa: Another big con is the spa, which is run by a different company than the hotel and charges 20E per person per night, which one needs to pay there (not charged to the room, so bring your credit card in your robe!). The spa includes a small, lukewarm pool with a small outdoor section and a tiny Jacuzzi area (but the view from pool is amazing!). There's only one sauna, which can barely fit six people. It's unusual for a four-star hotel to charge extra for spa access. 4. Sitting Area: The small sitting area next to the restaurant is always crowded at night. It only has a few seating areas with chairs and no background music. 5. Bar: The bar is seriously overpriced compared to other European hotels. 6. Room Charges: The room rates are high for what is offered. Our large group each paid different rates despite making reservations at the same time. One couple paid 1000E more than others, for the same package and dates. When we asked the front desk for an explanation, they said they don't manage bookings directly and that it's handled by a company in Torino, leaving us with no answers. 7. parking: expensive (20E/night) considering the room rate. However there are free spots on the street below the hotel. Summary: Overall, I would not return to this hotel or recommend it. There are far better options in Cervinia.
