  • Guest：If you’re a fan of overcrowded beaches with rows of loungers like cinema chairs, and no escape from cigarette smokers, this is the place for you. Head to the beach at 6am to secure a lounge under a hat and be prepared for loungers with shade to be gone by 7am, leaving you no other option but to grill under the blazing sun next to another sweaty and smoking body. This hotel is perfect for those who are seeking group entertainment at the beach like synchronised water gymnastics or jumping in a sac sort of activities, accompanied by loud music. If you are not a beach body, spend your day at the pool, strategically placed so far away from the beach that you wouldn’t even know the ocean exists. Loud music and smoking are guaranteed there too. For those craving a food poisoning thrill, we found ourselves in that situation on our third night after a meal at Tai Cat, an Asian restaurant. It was an exciting night spent hugging the toilet! After that, every meal felt like a lottery. The good news for those who’ve read my review that far and still considering going is that, apparently, most of the resorts on this island offer the fun package mentioned above, including food poisoning - no shortage of options there! However, if you’re looking for an unspoiled beach, a peaceful room with a sea view, and safe food and drink options, forget about the Dominican Republic. Head to Grenada, Barbados, or St Lucia instead.
  • Guest：We stayed here recently and unfortunately our experience was far from what we expected. One of the main issues was that both of us became unwell during our stay with sickness and diarrhoea. At the time, several other guests we spoke to said they were experiencing exactly the same symptoms, which was very concerning. While we can’t say for certain what caused it, the number of people affected suggests it may not have been an isolated incident. When we asked about seeing a doctor, we were quoted $200 per person, cash only, plus prescription fees, which felt completely unrealistic. In the end we had to rely on over-the-counter medication. There were also other problems during our stay, including repeated lack of hot water over multiple days, being moved rooms, and strong fumes in the corridors due to painting works taking place with no warning or ventilation. Overall, the holiday was very stressful and disappointing. If anyone else stayed here around the same time and experienced illness (particularly food poisoning symptoms), I’d really appreciate it if you could message me through TripAdvisor, as I’m trying to understand how widespread the issue may have been.
  • Guest：Arrived in the hotel on Tuesday after a weeks cruise and ate in the Asian restaurant on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon I was violently vomiting, shaking and had diarrhoea. I could stand as I was so weak. My husband spoke to Reception and they advised seeing the doctor in the Catalonia hotel next door. I was taken in a wheelchair and was put on an IV drip . After two hours I did feel much better. The Doctor also gave me a prescription for the pharmacy with a light diet sheet and advised just water for 5 days. The cost of the treatment received was ￡600 and ￡60.00 for the prescription, claimed back through our insurance. The hotel is beautiful but it's not as described. It's not on the beach you have to walk down the service road which is about 10 to 15mins or get a golf buggy when available. The beach isn't like the photos shown. The photos shown are of sunbeds available to to some holiday club that you can buy into. The sunbeds available are packed together on the narrow section of the beach which has blaring music from Dreams on one side and the Catalonia family hotel on the other. The buffet restaurant is not open as stated for lunch and only open twice a week for dinner. The Toscana is not open for lunch. The Beach snack bar only serves sushi and the pool bar does burgers, beef sandwiches and macaroni cheese. You have to book into the restaurants via an app and popular eating times get booked up quickly. All in all this was not the 5 star experience we where looking for or promised after a busy weeks cruise (which was fantastic ) when we just wanted to relax and chill. We have been to DR four times previously staying at Dreams La Romana, which is now the Hilton and the Rui Macau in Punta Cana where had amazing holidays. The staff are lovely but apart from the Reception staff their English is very limited which made it difficult sometimes when ordering food. I would not recommended this hotel.
  • Guest：Se trata de un hermoso hotel, con lugares comunes bien logrados que le imprimen un tono de lujo y sectores externos de gran belleza donde la naturaleza propia del lugar es potenciada con un paisajismo de excelencia. El lugar es sumamente relajado y tranquilo, ideal para el descanso. Ofrecen un buffet atildado y de calidad como asi tambien de distintos restaurantes Se complementa con su hotel hermano el Catalonia, a quien se puede visitar y tambien disfrutar de sus propuestas gastronòmicas y esparcimiento familiar a cargo de un staff que cumplen su objetivo con mucha eficiciencia y simpatìa De facil acceso a la playa y sus diversas piscinas, sus habitaciones son muy còmodas y poseen todo lo que un hotel de esta categorìa puede ofrecer, pero lo màs importante que tiene el Catalonia es su personal. Servicial, sumamente cordial,descontracturado pero no invasivo. Es todo un detalle que un hotel de estas dimensiones posea un alto nivel de atenciòn standarizado en todos sus colaboradores. Si tu onda son los All Inclusive relajados,descontracturados con un toque de calidad este es un lugar que no te puedes perder.
